Zack and Miri Make a Porno

I saw Kevin Smith's new Apatow-like comedy Zack and Miri Make a Porno this weekend, but although I was excited about this movie (being a fan of both Smith and Seth Rogen), I hate to report that it was pretty bad...

The premise is set up in the trailer above, so I'll just let that do the debriefing. Unfortunately, the trailer is ultimately more enjoyable than the film itself. You could argue that most of the funny jokes are in the trailer and therefore ruined the movie, but ultimately, the movie's not all that funny in the first place, so I'm not sure it makes much of a difference. Instead of delivering a cool take on a silly (but awesome) industry/cultural phenomenon, Smith gives us a kinda meaningless/pointless and overly cussy film featuring possibly Seth Rogen's worst script to date. Sure, there were a couple funny bits (mostly concerning Jasons Mewes' character) [note: Mewes usually places Silent Bob's buddy Jay], and the relationship between Zack and Miri is kinda touching, but short of that, this movie is sadly a rent at best...
