Onto the second leg of our trip: four cities in Belgium. Using Brussels as our homebase, we saw three other nearby cities in what could best be described as an unfortunate combination of trying to see too much in a short amount of time and doing so at a bad time of year. See, the last day we were in town was a national holiday in Belgium, and as such, the cities were all festivaled-out with tents, bands, and parades. Sure, this sounds neat if you're in a city you've spent a lot of time in, but if you're a first-time visitor like Candace, it's probably not the most ideal way to be introduced to cities which are mostly charming for their historic details. Anyway, here are the albums:

Ghent + BrugesAlthough I think we ended up having a good time in Belgium, it was perhaps the biggest letdown on the trip for me. See, I had really fond memories of my previous visits there (even considering it to be my favorite country in the world), so perhaps I had just built it up to be bigger than it really was. Oh well.
Fortunately, our next stop (Paris) turned out to be the highlight of the trip, letting me forget about my disappointments in Belgium almost entirely.
