Christmas Gifts Given 2008

Alright, it's finally time for me to talk about Christmas gifts, as I think I'm settling into a more stable blogging routine (hopefully) and I've gotten a few other topics out of the way. Let's being with the gifts I gave this year. Ultimately, I really didn't have a lot of people to buy things for, but for many of them, I kinda splurged.

For my mom I got her a ticket to the live Dancing with the Stars touring show which is coming up in a couple weeks. Naturally, I had to buy a ticket for someone to go with her as well, so I figured I would go (despite not really being interested) so we could have a mother-son evening out. Although the tickets were quite expensive, I hadn't been able to find something for her the last time I could have given her a present, so I just decided to wait until Christmas to give her something nice.

Actually, I did this with my Dad's gift too. I had initially promised to pay for the two of us to play a number of golf games, but now that I've realized that I've got a long way to go until I'm ready to play even nine holes, I figured I would give him a new guitar amp to go along with my old guitar which I'm letting him use to learn on. The amp I got him was actually just the small version of my new amp, and I think it's generally the best small amp on the market, so this was a pretty good present, I think.

For Candace, I decided to splurge as well...having never really given her any clothing up until this point, I decided I wanted to give her something really nice. Naturally, I wanted it to be something I like, and no women's store quite fits this description as well as White House Black Market. Click here to see the jacket I gave her. Although this was pretty expensive, I really wanted her to have something nice, so it was worth it. To be fair, I did kinda tell her if she was going to keep it she would have to buy the rest of the outfit, which she did and seems to be pretty happy about, so it's not like she didn't have to invest in this outfit a bit too.

Then there are the less-splurgy gifts: I gave Jaclyn+Ryan a Raving Rabbids Wii game, I gave Jaclyn a candle, I gave my cousin's wife a gift certificate to Paper Affair, I gave Evan the No Country for Old Men DVD, I gave Dave+Carla the IV-V-I music theory card game, and I have purhased something for Dave that I have yet to give him. Add to all this the gifts I gave to a number of my long-term students, and you've got perhaps my most giving Christmas ever, which is a good feeling. =)
