D+C Visit (Summary)

So, Dave and Carla's first visit to see me in my hometown of Atlanta has come and gone, and although they were essentially the first people for whom I had the task of showing around the city, I think we covered a few great things: Stone Mountain, Buckhead, Centennial Park, The World of Coke, Downtown (and The Sun Dial), my parents' place and my apartment, and of course our New Years' night on the town. Add to this a fair amount of eating out and playing video games, and you've got a fairly well-rounded trip.

Ultimately, I think their visit has taught me even more that Atlanta's sights really aren't all that interesting when compared with other cities (hell, even The Hague, as small as it was, had a lot more interesting stuff to see than the ATL), especially if you don't end up hitting most of the bars and clubs (which of course we didn't). Perhaps Atlanta is best experienced as a city to be lived in, not visited.

Overall though, Dave and Carla's visit was fun, and although it might have been better were it to have happened a bit further outside the holiday season, I wasn't about to be picky about the timing when finally getting the chance to show them around. Thanks for coming down to the Dirty South, Dave and Carla! Racist Mountain will never forget you (or the "real President")! =)
