Candace and I often try to come up with fresh ideas for things to do (especially if they're inexpensive/free), and in so doing, Candace suggested we go see one of the new James Bond flicks at a free outdoor movie series called Flicks on 5th. So, once we got there, we barely found a decent seat, got settled in (including Candace standing in a really long line for ice cream), and then started watching the movie, realizing a bit too late (and to our dismay) that they were screening the SECOND film, not the first (which is MUCH better). To add insult to injury, Candace and I had already seen the second film together (and didn't even like it then), and the sound was horrendous (at least from where we were sitting), so after about twenty minutes, we decided to take off.
So, I'm not quite sure this negative experience was bad enough to warrant never trying a free outdoor movie screening again, but it certainly didn't help.
Things we learned for next time:
1.) get there earlier
2.) bring your own food/drinks
3.) sit somewhere where something other than just bass will be audible
4.) make sure you actually want to see the movie
From what I understand though, there's an upcoming screening of Ghostbusters, which is certainly more enticing to me. So,perhaps we can give this another shot...?
