A Note on Michael Jackson

Nothing particularly profound to say here other than I'm sad about Michael's death, like a lot of other people. Like everyone else my age, I grew up listening to and loving Michael's music, and although it's been tough seeing him evolve into whatever he became prior to his death, it's still pretty unbelievable that he's gone. Evan and I listened to the bulk of his greatest hits album today after hearing the news, singing along and celebrating him and his work, so to speak. To be fair though, Michael (or at least, the way we knew him) really died a long time ago. Generally speaking, in the case of the passing of any other artist whom I highly respect but never got to see live, I would most likely now be saying how much I regret not getting to see him perform, but to be fair, Michael probably hasn't given a great show in fifteen years...

Anyway, we lost a really talented guy today, regardless of his crazy lifestyle choices. You know, it might be fair to say that, short of someone like Hitler, the world has lost its most recognized name during his own lifetime. I mean, can you think of anyone more famous than Michael Jackson, especially outside the States? Probably not. Thanks for all the good things you gave us, Michael. Here's a clip of my favorite MJ song: "Rock with You".
