I got off to a late start today for my trip to my old graduate stomping ground of Bloomington, Indiana, so there really isn't much to report. Basically, I arrived in town and headed straight for the Irish Lion, an Irish pub popular amongst the music school folks, where Dave, Carla, and a bunch of composerly folk were gathered for drinks and merriment (at least, as merry as a nerdy group of composers are capable of...). =)
After this fun little reunion, I headed out by myself to grab some Rockit's Pizza, my favorite pizza anywhere, and to be sure...it did not disappoint (never has). Now, I'm settling into Dave and Carla's place for the fifth time and will soon be heading to bed.
First though, here are a few observations:
- snow is magical. Seeing snow on the ground here makes me want to raise my future children (were I to have any) in a place that actually gets snow (unlike most of the places I generally want to live).
- Dave and Carla have been really generous to let me stay with them this many times. Dave jokes that their spare bed (his old one from when he lived alone) is actually "Ryan's bed", but I know that they always end up putting some time into preparing the room for me, and their hospitality as a whole never goes unappreciated. Hopefully I express this sentiment adequately when I'm here...
- even though I'm tired of Bloomington, it's still awesome in its special kind of way. Every time I come back it, I experience a distinct set of pricless recollections, and although I know I couldn't live here again, it's still nice to bask in some of this nostalgia.
That's all I've got. More tomorrow.
