Mojo @ Dad's Garage

So, as you can tell, I've recently been trying to be a whole lot more socially active, going to shows, movies, bars, and clubs, all with friends I failed to keep in touch with as much as I would have liked over the past year or so. Last night I reconnected with a friend I knew coincidently both through Candace and my Oglethorpe friends, an actor friend who has been doing a number of chamber theatre shows in Atlanta for a bit now. One of the shows I saw this past year was a performance of After Ashley that he was in and I enjoyed very much, so I figured I would go check out his newest play last night.

The play, entitled Mojo, is about six men in 1950's London who lock themselves into the nightclub where they work after they find out the owner had been brutally murdered in what seems to be some sort of violent take-over. The show features typical British crude humor and evidently was a source of inspiration for Guy Ritchie's similar movie Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels. Now, although I'm not really much of a fan of this sort of humor, by the end of the show I had really gotten into the characters and the acting and ended up enjoying it a good bit.

Afterwards, four of the cast members went out for drinks with some friends and I was invited along, which was really fun. I even met some people who knew some of my friends from Indiana, which was kinda a shock! Overall, a great evening. Hopefully I'll be able to see Brent's plays more often!
