Mass Effect: Revelation

If you've been reading this blog routinely, you know that I was pretty obsessed with the Xbox 360 game Mass Effect when I picked it up in November. Well, part of that obsession involved obtaining not one but two Mass Effect-themed novels, one of which I received for Christmas. So, although I got a number of different books to read for Christmas, I chose to start with the first of the two Mass Effect books, as I had just finished playing through the game for my second full time and was eager for more.

So, I just finished the prequel novel (the other is a sequel), Mass Effect: Revelation, which concerns one of the main backstories featured in the game. Fortunately, both of the books were written by the same guy who wrote most of the material for the game itself, so continuity wasn't a problem at all. Now, was the story all that good? Not any more than you would expect, but I suppose if you're as into the game's world as I am, then it's good cheap-entertainment.

Next up on my reading list is Watchmen, the graphic novel, as the movie is coming out fairly soon. After this, I'm going to buy the Bret Hart DVD so I can prepare for the awesome Bret Hart book Dave gave me for Christmas. Then I'll probably read the other Mass Effect book to round things up.
