Last week Candace and I went to see our second Braves game together, this time against the Colorado Rockies. Unlike our first game (against the Phillies), the Braves kicked the opposition's ass, especially in the fourth inning where we scored 9 runs! The final score was 12-4, but we didn't stay to the end, trying to avoid traffic and all (besides, at the time we left, it was something like 11-1).
Three significant things happened or occurred to me at this game:
1.) Unlike last time, I did get a Chicago dog this time around, but although it wasn't as bad as one I had had recently at a concert venue, it wasn't very good. Gotta stick to the authentic Chicago dog stands.
2.) Although it seemed like the Rockies' bullpen was HORRIBLE, it turns out that out of the four games in that particular homegame series against that team, we won and lost an equal amount of times, even being stomped in our last game 0-9; and of the four games, the overall score count was only 21-19...all of this leading me to believe that baseball can be a really fickle sport that's hard to predict.
3.) During a bit of trivia announced at the park, I learned that Turner Field is second in altitude only to Colorado's Coors Field (Mile-High), a fact that really surprised me. Upon my return home, I was sure to mention this to my roommate Evan, and he informed me that Atlanta actually sits at a fairly high altitude itself (an average of around 1000 ft). I guess I always imagined Mile-High Stadium to be up on a hill, but as it turns out Denver itself is pretty flat, despite being at a high altitude...
Overall, we had a good time, and I'm looking forward to going back again sometime before the season ends, mostly just because I'm really fond of doing racially-insensitive rally hand gestures... =)
