Europe Trip: The Netherlands

Now that I've gotten my NOLA photos up, I can start with those from my Europe trip! To start, I should remind you that our trip was split into four equal parts (each three days long). The first of these was spent in The Netherlands dividing our time between Den Haag and Amsterdam. Since I didn't take that many photos in Amsterdam, I've just lumped the two albums together:

The best way to describe our time in The Netherlands would be "jet-lagged": while it was great seeing all the old familiar places, my literal and emotional jetlag really defined the whole experience...at one point I even had some difficulty acclimating myself to this place I've been mythologizing for two years now since I left, having to confront the reality that I can never really entirely go back to the way things were in my memories.

Still, we had a good time chilling around Den Haag and catching up with some of my old friends. It's too bad I couldn't have spent those first five days alone that I was supposed to have, but then again, perhaps that much time away from home would have exhausted me even more by the end. Maybe next time... =)
