GPS Do-Gooder

Today, while leaving a client's house after teaching a guitar lesson, some random teen on a bike who had been riding through the neighborhood asked me if I knew where a certain road was in this rather large subdivision. Naturally, I didn't know where it was, but he seemed pretty desperate and lost, and considering the oncoming rain, I figured I would offer to look the address up on my GPS. So, we took a minute to put the data in, wait for my GPS to figure out some directions, and then try to figure out where we were (for some reason my GPS couldn't triangulate my current location), and thusly how the kid should get to his destination.

Anyway, it's just amazing to me how only a few years ago this sort of thing wouldn't have been possible. Hell, had I had a phone with internet access, I could have just done it from that instead, which is even crazier (sort of like the difference between having a phone installed in your car - in the old days - and just having a cell phone...in your car). The way I see it, it's only a matter of time before our contact lenses have digital read-outs in them... =)
