The Page Turner

Last night, in addition to my ManPurse breaking, I also saw The Page Turner, a French "thriller" on DVD. While I had seen previews for this film while I was doing my ridiculous year-long movie marathon in The Netherlands, I'm pretty sure I missed its release there, so I only got around to finally seeing the film yesterday. It's a good thing that I waited too, as the film was one of the worst I've seen in a long time.

The premise of The Page Turner is that this girl gets stage-fright during a piano audition for an expert panel when she was young due to one of the members of the panel innocently causing a distraction...then, when the girl grows up, she still holds such a grudge against this woman that she weasels her way into her life and ruins everything. Oh, I should add that she does this in perhaps the most unconvincing and bland way she possibly could.

So, despite being a music-themed film (or maybe because of it?), this film was horribly boring and ultimately a big waste of time. It's kinda in the vein of Swimming Pool and Notes on a Scandal, two movies which are certainly better but not by much, so I guess if you really loved those films, you might get off on this one...if you're lucky.
