This will have to be a quick post, as I'm online at my hostel in Victoria and only have so much time left:
Tuesday night went about as planned...had an interesting dining experience w/Marina consisting of raw Japanese tapas at a place called Goo, then we went home, met her roommate Lucas (who has an awesome mustache!), and then the three of us went out for a drink at this kinda crazy pub called Brick House (more on the owner later...?).
On Wednesday I got up early to head over to Victoria, which is the capital of BC but yet is somehow still only accessible via plane or ferry (I took the latter). Once in town, I checked into my hostel and visited a bunch of the city's main sights, chilled a bit (taking a nap), and then went out for a late dinner and an indie dance rock show, both of which were pretty awesome. The people here are SO nice...very willing to carry on a conversation with some American guy on vacation alone. I have a hard time thinking many Americans would be as willing to just talk to some random guy for any significant portion of their evening out, but perhaps I'm wrong.
Anyway, I didn't go to bed until 2:30-3:00 (which is late for hosteling), but I ended up getting 10% off dinner, five bucks knocked off the show (great band called You Say Party, We Say Die), three free beers, and a free shot!
Gotta go! Time's almost up!
