Vancouver Trip (Day 6)

So now onto yesterday, Sunday. Woke up with a little bit of a hangover, but nothing some Advil and some food couldn't fix. We stayed in and chilled for bit, but then Lucas, Marina, and I went out for a movie, being a rainy day and all. We went to a theatre in this strange mall that doesn't really have any stores I could imagine anyone wanting to go to, but whatever. The movie was Seth Rogen's Observe and Report, which was somehow both better and worse than I was expecting it to be, but I'll save that for a formal review post later.

After the movie we did some shopping in this random Japanese dollar store and then drove back towards the apartment to pick up Marina's friend Joel to go as a group over to the University of British Columbia's campus just Southwest of the city. As it turns out, Joel's sister Lindsay Roberts was a friend of mine from my years at Indiana University, although there was no reasonable connection between us...it was almost literally totally random, especially considering I met Marina in Europe, not here in North America, and the only reason I met her was due to an entirely random chance of sitting next to someone at her school on my initial plane flight over to the NL. Crazy.

Anyway, the campus was quite beautiful and well-landscaped...we pretty much just walked around and took it all in. That said, most everything was closed, being Easter Sunday and all, but whatever. The we dropped Lucas off and the three of us remaining went to dinner at an interesting joint called Locus, which was decorated with tree roots all over the tables and walls. After this, Marina was still craving Qoola yogurt, so we did that again and then stood in line to get last-minute tickets for the Crookers (a really awesome Italian DJ duo that's really big right now and would never come to the ATL) show, which we were lucky enough to score for the two of us.

Then we went home, got dressed up, and headed out for the show, which was hands down one of the best DJ sets I've ever seen (if not the best). We bumped into a few of Marina's friends at the club, but mostly it was just too crowded either to talk or dance much. Still, it was a way better experience than I usually have dancing in Atlanta, so props to Vancouver. We ended our night at a late-night pizza-by-the-slice place that was nowhere near as good as Rockit's in Bloomington, but whatever (for some reason they put sesame seeds on their crust here...).

Overall, although Sunday was a chill day, Crookers more than made up for it.
