As is typical after the rehearsal, we all headed over to our rehearsal dinner, hosted by Ryan's family at Maggiano's. We were situated in a small but pleasantly intimate private room with everyone seated at one of four tables. We had an open bar, a lot of food, and plenty of opportunity to get to know one another. Candace and I sat at the table with most of my family members, including my aunt and cousins.
The evening featured a couple more or less standard rehearsal dinner moments, the first being a slide show of pics from Jaclyn and Ryan's separate childhoods as well as those of their time over the past four years. The other special part of the evening was a series of toasts given by anyone and everyone that wanted to give one, myself included. I believe there were over ten separate toasts, but despite the large number, all of them were to the point and sober enough to keep the evening flowing.
Overall, the rehearsal dinner was very nice. Looking back, had it not been for this more intimate meal with our family and the wedding party, I might not have gotten a chance to really talk with most of them, as I was bombarded at the actual wedding reception by old family friends who hadn't seen me in years.
