Swimming Pool

A couple nights ago, Candace and I rented the Focus Features film, Swimming Pool. I didn't really know much about the film going into it, save for a peripheral memory of the trailer above that I only managed to see via the Lost in Translation DVD. I found the film a bit weird, mostly due to strange acting and an even stranger plot. Unlike a surreal movie like Mulholland Drive though, this movie's oddness didn't seem to work in its favor. It's not until you near the end that the film really starts to seem a bit surreal, and even then you're only somewhat convinced of what the writers might have been getting at. Granted, I'm not going to claim that I totally understood Mulholland Drive either, but at least I had a very strong feeling that it all made sense somehow, a feeling I didn't share with Swimming Pool.
