Frustrated with not having changed my look in a big way since I started growing my hair back after the fu-manchu/mohawk look in the NL, I've decided to finally start growing back my full beard again. This started right after my sister's wedding just a little over a week ago on account of that being the last formal engagement I'll have for the foreseeable future. There's nothing particularly special about this time around though, with the possible exception that Candace is having to get used to it.
Part of my frustration with not changing my look in a while stems from the fact that as a private teacher of young kids I feel I shouldn't be too edgy (not for the kids, but rather their possibly conservative parents). This meant no crazy piercings, tattoos (if I were certain I wanted one), hair cuts, or wardrobe-wide fashion decisions, so all I really had left was facial hair, and even then I feel I should try to keep it conservative and clean. The moral of this story is that the days of style experimentation in Bloomington (and somewhat in The Netherlands) are long gone, leaving me feeling a little older than I think I should be feeling were I to be in a scholastic setting (speaking of which, more on my potential future at CCM in another post).
