Having gotten good at solving my standard 3x3x3 Rubik's Cube using a fairly rookie method, I was faced with three options:
1.) delve deeper into the world of speed-cubing by studying more advanced (and therefore more difficult-to-remember) move sets
2.) stop trying to advance at all and eventually tire of playing
...or...
3.) buy a different sized Rubik's Cube and master that!
So, not wanting to spend my time memorizing up to 100 new algorithms for speed-cubing, and not wanting to stop enjoying 'cubing' so soon after getting into it, I decided to go with option three. See, there are a few different variants on the 3x3x3 Rubik's Cube. There's the Rubik's Revenge 4x4x4, the Professor's Cube 5x5x5, and the diminutive but still challenging Pocket Cube (now known as the Rubik's Ice Cube) 2x2x2. Wanting to take things slowly (and because I couldn't find a bigger cube in a store), I have now started mastering a basic solve on my very own Pocket Cube. It's significantly easier than the 3x3x3, but it's still challenging, so I'm having a good time. I'll be sure to let you know when I upgrade...
