Charleston Day 3

For our third day on our trip, Candace and I left the Isle of Palms to tour downtown Charleston. We started the day at a seafood place called A.W. Shuck's (haha), and then toured the city on foot, essentially just walking in whatever direction caught our fancy. Some of the highlights from the tour were the old Charleston houses and churches, the Piccolo Spoleto festival's Memorial Day Band performance (which we caught part of in passing through the main square in town), and a tiny bit of shopping around (not buying anything though).

We then grabbed a quick beer to pass a little time before seeing a horrible Chicago-based long-form improv comedy group called The Reckoning at one of the many Piccolo Spoleto venues. Then we finished off the night at a cute little Italian place before making the 30 minute drive back to the resort.

Overall, this was my favorite day of the trip by far (at time of writing, I have only a driving day left of the trip). Charleston is easily the closest city I've found in the States to anything I've seen in Europe, so you can imagine how well that went over with me. That said, if I could have done anything differently, I would have planned something to do at the main Spoleto festival well before coming, but as it turned out, I had no idea it was going on until we arrived. Oh well...
