Star Wars Prequels

Although I've owned a copy of the original three Star Wars films for some time now, I didn't get around to buying the prequels on DVD until a couple weeks ago. Well, the other day I finished watching them all, and here's what I have to say about them now that time has passed and I'm currently not all caught up in a Star Wars frenzy due to an upcoming release:

First off, as a whole, these films are not as good as the originals - there's no argument there. Episode III MIGHT be stronger than VI, but that's very arguable...it certainly is the best of the three prequels. Although Dave would disagree with me, I still feel strongly that the quality of these films improves with each successive episode (making Episode I easily the worst). As most people tend to agree, the films would have been A LOT better had the following been true:

1.) the script was better
2.) the overall quality of actors was higher
3.) the CGI was downplayed to give the films the look of the first trilogy

Most people tend to blame these problems on George Lucas losing a critical eye and becoming too engrossed in the franchise for its own sake. This said, the films are still fun enough to watch, especially considering I'm generally happy to see anything Star Wars. So, I guess my opinions of the films haven't changed all that much, despite the amount of time that has passed since the last release. Oh well.
