This past weekend was Atlanta's big three-day gay pride festival, which was concluded by the traditional gay pride parade on Sunday. Expecting this to be fun, Candace really wanted to go see what it like, so despite some pretty ominous rain clouds looming overhead as we departed by foot to our destination a few blocks up the street, we were excited to be checking it out. Unfortunately, those rain clouds really did prove to be just as bad as they looked (actually, quite worse), and we, along with the rest of the parade-goers, ended up getting soaked (and threatened by some really nearby lightning). Due to the inclement weather, the parade was delayed a bit, and once it did get going, after seeing that the first few floats were entirely corporate sponsors, we gave up on the show and walked briskly back to Candace's apartment, leaving us even more soaked.
As it turns out, had we waited just a few minutes more, the parade would have gotten much more interesting (so I'm told), and we would have been able to watch it from the dry comfort of our friend Scott's nearby apartment balcony, Scott only then having just awoken from a heavy night of drinking the previous evening...
Oh well. Maybe next year!
