Bloomington Trip ReCap

Well, my fourth Bloomington trip is officially over, and I have to say that despite some shaky moments Saturday night, the trip proved to be quite successful, most specifically in terms of the quality time Dave and I managed to spend. In fact, I would say that this one element was the most unique aspect of this trip in relation to my previous three trips I've made to Bloomington. Although the other trips had their high points and low points as well, it wasn't until this visit that I really felt like I got some truly good quality time to talk about serious stuff with Dave, possibly due to the fact that on this trip I saw the fewest friends during my visit (counting Dave and Carla, I only saw four people). A lot of the hanging out we did lounging around Dave's place reminded me of our year together at 805, and to some extent the original BroFest in the Varsity Villas 3.5 years ago.

When it comes down to it though, I'm starting to think this might actually be the last trip I make to my alma mater for a long time (possibly until Dave's Doctoral recital?), largely due to the driving time and the fact that ultimately I'm not even going for the city itself anymore...rather, I essentially went just to see Dave. As they always say, you can never really go back, and every time I do go back to Bloomington I end up feeling that much less in touch with the wonderful memories I made there. Still, my strong friendship with Dave is the kind of thing that lasts for a long time, so I guess once Bloomington has come and gone for both of us, we're still going to have to try to find ways to meet up every once in a while.
