Phillies vs. Braves

To celebrate our 7-month anniversary, Candace and I went to see the Braves play against the Phillies at Turner Field. As far as I'm aware, this was the first time I've been to a Braves game (or any baseball game for that matter) since sometime around my Freshman or Sophomore year at UGA (i.e. in the past 6-8 years or so), so it was really nice to finally make it out to a game. Baseball is the only sport I played a lot of growing up, and to this day it still holds a special place in my otherwise not very interested in sports heart.

Unfortunately, the game started at the rather unpractical time of 7:00 pm (on a weekday), which caused us to miss the first thirty minutes or so. I know they picked that time with the likely 10:00 pm or so endtime in mind, but with such bad traffic around the stadium during rush hour, it seems like bumping it back to 8:00 or so would have made a big difference. Still, despite the Braves getting pretty sorely beaten by the Phillies, Candace and I still had a good time.

Although the following Facebook album mainly includes random photos of Candace throughout our time together thus far, the pics I took at the game are also in there, so feel free to check it out:

There were two Chicago-related things about this game that could have made it better:

1.) eating Chicago dogs instead of regular hot dogs
2.) seeing the White Sox instead of the Phillies, as I know WAY more about the Sox than any other team out there, thanks to Dave

Finally, in closing (and in reference to the picture above), one little thing I was really hoping to have happen at the game was to get a chance to see my high school classmate Blaine Boyer (a rookie on the team) pitch. Fortunately (or unfortunately for the team), I did get to see him pitch, but he quickly gave up a few runs, so they switched him out. Oh well. Still, I hadn't even gotten a chance to see him on TV yet, so this was particularly special, regardless of his performance.
