Although Evan and I weren't scheduled to move into our new apartment until Friday, we got our keys today after they installed some new carpet and told us it was ours to move into, so I took a load of my stuff over there and got started. After we dropped my stuff off (literally just dropping it off, not setting it up, which I'll save for Friday), we took a couple car loads over from Evan's current apartment in the complex down a few buildings to the new apartment, with Candace joining us in the end. Tomorrow I plan on doing the same thing, taking one full car load of stuff over there and signing the lease while I'm at it. Then on Friday, my Dad and I'll do the big stuff like my desk, bed, and clothes: all the stuff I need for my first night there.
As I mentioned before, I'm not really taking all that much over at first, instead just bringing stuff I actually use on a regular basis. Moving in small steps (including bringing things over from my parents' house later on only when I need them) is really nice and certainly takes a lot of the pressure off the move, allowing me to just enjoy the transition into independent living once more. And although Candace hasn't yet seen the apartment in its final state, she did react positively to what she saw today, and with the added bonus of this apartment being closer to both her work and her apartment, I think this move will be a step forward for both of us.
