Beth's Class

One of my current money-making engagements is my good friend Beth Lewis' modern dance class she's trying to get started at this gym where she works. The idea is that I accompany her live on piano, improvising along with some rhythm patches I make ahead of time in Ableton. The draw is that supposedly no other modern dance class in the Atlanta area has live music. Unfortunately, it's been difficult to try to get people to come out. We've met a total of three times hoping to have a class, and only once thus far has anyone shown up (even then, we only had two people).

Because Beth is such a good friend, I don't mind having a few bumps in trying to get this thing off the ground, but it's a hard thing for someone to try to start something only to have it not work at first. Hopefully things will turn around soon, because I think Beth has a lot to offer in terms of teaching a modern dance class, and I'm sure she's right that there's nothing quite like what we're trying to do going on in Atlanta.
