Well, my first club DJing gig has come and gone, and I have to say I'm quite relieved. All of that preparation and worrying is finally over...everything from making a mix CD, learning the club's turntables, and practicing DJing every day to the nerves behind the actual gig itself...I'm just glad it's all behind me now.
Overall, I have to say the gig went really well, mainly due to my actually stepping up and preparing fully, thereby allowing me to give a good performance (it was good enough that I was asked to continue DJing for 30 minutes longer than planned). There weren't many people there, and the energy in the room was a bit lacking, but I still got a lot out of this experience, the least of which certainly wasn't the handful of connections I made with promoters and other DJ's looking for me to spin for them sometime in the near future.
Definitely a good experience. Looking forward to doing it again...hopefully very soon!
