This coming weekend I'll be making a special trip to Bloomington to visit my close friend Dave for the fourth time since I left my graduate alma mater this time almost two years ago. The first time I visited was during my Winter break from school in The Netherlands. Due to not having a car at the time, I flew up to see Dave and his girlfriend Carla just before they returned home for Christmas themselves. The second time I visited them was this past Fall (during school), shortly after returning home from Europe, using my brand new Toyota Matrix to make the eight hour trip, one reason for visiting being to determine if Bloomington was where I wanted to move for the year and if so, to find a place there. Finally, the last time I visited them was this past January, when I brought Candace up to meet my friends right before school started up again.
This upcoming trip will be a little different from the rest in a couple ways:
1.) it'll be the first time that I catch Dave not doing much (especially considering Carla's doing army stuff for two of the three evenings I'll be around), so we'll have plenty of time to just hang out
2.) very few of my other friends from my time at IU will still be in town, or even school: Goose, Estel, the Suze, Laura, and many other friends have already passed on to bigger and better places
This said, I'm very excited to get to catch up with Dave again, to visit all my favorite B-Town restaurants and hangouts, and to be getting out of Atlanta for a little bit. Part of the reason I decided to make the trip was that Candace was going to her Dad's home in Ellijay, GA for the weekend, and I knew she wouldn't be able to join me with her new work schedule, so this seemed like a perfect time. Can't wait!
