Returning Clothes

Occasionally my mom and I go shopping to get me some new clothes. On our last trip out shopping (or at least the last one I can remember, which was back in the Fall), I picked up a number of items from Express Men, two of which I never ended up wearing or even taking the tags off of. One item was a sort of metro quasi-camo long-sleeve button-up, and the other was a pair of nice brown dress pants. For whatever reason though, I never could seem to fit either of these items into my wardrobe, so they went unused for many months past the Express return policy's three month limit.

Well, today I decided to go shopping again, and out of some sort of strange whim that never seemed to occur to me over these past however many months since I picked up the two items from above, I decided to try to return them. To my pleasant surprise, Express Men was willing to take them from me as long as I took an equally expensive set of clothes off their hands in exchange (i.e. they weren't willing to credit my card or to give me store credit for use at another store or another day).

So, although I initially had a hard time finding $150 worth of new clothes in their store that I would actually wear, I ended up finding a neat grey vest tucked away in the corner, along with a pair of short-sleeved button-ups that would suit me well both as semi-casual Summer attire and as appropriate clothes for private teaching (as opposed to t-shirts). I also returned a shirt at Pacific Sunwear (picking up some heavily discounted stuff).

Ultimately, I'm glad I feel free to indulge my fashion appetite from time to time now that I'm making money, especially considering last year I was too frugal to allow myself many clothes purchases in the otherwise hard to resist clothing market in Europe.
