Kaskade @ Swerve!
Last night Candace and I were joined by two of my friends (JP and Jennifer Kitchens) for an evening out seeing one of San Francisco's top DJs/producers, Kaskade. The venue for his gig was the newly re-conceptualized Swerve Nightclub, which is actually just a straight night at the city's biggest gay dance club, Wet Bar, to which neither Candace nor I had yet been. We got there early, thinking Kaskade was going on at 11 (we had false info going in), so we spent the first hour or so just checking out the club (which is really nice, including having an outdoor patio lounge).
After a few drinks and a shot we were all dancing to the opening house DJ, during whose set we had plenty of dancing room (not the case for Kaskade though). Kaskade's entrance was very subtle, but once everyone realized he had replaced the other DJ, the room got crowded very fast. He opened up with a trio of his own tracks, including his newest track, "Move For Me" (see the link above, which is just audio). Overall, his set was really tight, and even JP (who is more of a trance guy) ended up liking it a good bit.
We didn't stay too long though, because Candace had had a long week and was really tired, but I didn't feel bad about leaving, because I had gotten in the best dancing experience I think I've ever had. Until last night, I used to think MJQ was the closest I was going to get to finding a great dance club in Atlanta, but Swerve has now replaced it by far, and I certainly plan on going back as often as I can!
