Late Night DJ Practice

There are two things I commonly reserve for late nights spent alone at home: putting out flyers in local neighborhoods and doing a practice DJ set. Both of these I did this evening, marking the first time I've been as productive as I intended to be at night in a long time. Although the need for money has pushed me into putting flyers out again recently, my recent lack of promising DJ gigs has made it difficult to get around to doing my late night sets.

I also think my procrastination in getting around to DJing has stemmed from my fear that I won't be able to reproduce the quality of my most recent mix CD, which I am still very proud of. See, one of the main reasons I feel the need to do practice sets is to prepare for either an upcoming gig or for my standard live recordings that mark the beginning of the long process of making a studio mix CD. Typically, I prefer to do three nights of practice sets within the week that I plan to do a mix CD recording or live gig so as to make sure my beat matching and blending skills are up to snuff (along with providing me a thorough reminder of what music's in my collection).

So hopefully tonight's practice set will in fact be my first step towards making my next mix CD, especially considering I feel that CD is growing quite overdue.
