Corndogorama

Although I haven't talked about it as much as it occurs, Candace is a big fan of going to festivals (as in, free outdoor art festivals), and of course, I'm a big fan of indie rock shows, so when you combine the two together it's sort of a no-brainer. Hence, Corndogorama 2009, a two-day festival of this sort featuring tons of bands (and purportedly, corndogs) throughout.

Unfortunately, this wasn't really what was on offer: sure, there were a number of bands split between one real stage and one tiny second "stage" (which was just an unused spot of parking lot just off the main stage), and there were corndogs, but despite the fact that the festival had been heralded as a big deal, it took up at most two small city blocks, had relatively no arts vendors, had only one corndog stand, only served PBR, and was very poorly attended when we went on Sunday.

The only pluses were that we got in for a discounted price via a local radio station and that we got to see my favorite local band Today the Moon, Tomorrow the Sun play while we were there. We also caught another local indie band This Piano Plays Itself and a side project my friend Rurik is in, but ultimately, despite the music being the highlight, it wasn't really enough to make up for a shitty festival. Supposedly Corndogorama used to be much better in the past... Oh well. At least we didn't pay that much!
