Cruise Card

Atlanta has five main artery freeways: running North/South is I-75, Southwest/Northeast is I-85, East/West is I-20, the beltway is I-285, and then there's the state toll road, GA400, which runs North of the center of town and stops just short of half the distance between Atlanta and the Tennessee border. Of these five roads, I regularly use I-285 and GA400 (both of which run very close to my apartment) and I-85 (where it picks up the slack from GA400, which ends just before reaching the city center).

Thus, since GA400 is my fastest way into town, it's become very common (and frustrating) for me to have to stop at the toll both every time I want to see Candace or do anything in the city proper. Now, while I had been fully aware this whole time that it was possible for me to get a Cruise Card that would allow me to go through the booth without stopping, I had been putting it off for awhile, instead making sure to have quarters with me at all times.

Well recently, I found out that the Georgia Tollway Authority was going to be waving the $10 fee for Cruise Cards for the whole month of July, so I figured I would get in on this deal while it lasted. So, the card arrived last week, and after affixing it to my window, I hesitantly tried it out that night (I was worried I might not have put it on right, thereby causing the scanners to miss it and mark me as illegally passing through). Well, I'm happy to report that it seems to work very well and has certainly cut down my rides around the city by a couple minutes. Now I just wish I had gotten one earlier!
