Although this post is about something that happened about four months ago, I'm kinda running out of topics (cramming in all this material to make up for June's dearth of posts), so I figured I might as well write about my experience on Match back when Candace and I were taking some time off.
I started doing Match right at the beginning of March (Candace and I broke up in late January), and although I kept my subscription going for two months, I basically only used it for five weeks or so (one of the weeks was during my trip to Vancouver, and Candace and I got back together during the last two). Ultimately, it took about two weeks of incessant emailing to finally set up some dates, but once I started, it didn't let up much. Overall, I went on 16 dates with 12 different girls, and almost all of them were different.
I know that sounds like a lot in such a short time, but ultimately, the site is expensive, and I figured it wouldn't hurt to go on lots of first-dates, as you can usually tell if someone's even slightly a good match for you within the first 10 minutes. There were only three people I went on second dates with, but when it came down to it, none of those people were really what I was looking for. Although I certainly tried not to compare everyone to Candace, doing so is kinda inevitable, and considering how open-ended Candace and I had left things after our breakup, I just wanted to try things out with her again (fortunately, that's going much better than it was the first time around).
You know, I could talk about my Match experience for a long time, as there were a few interesting stories to tell and plenty of thoughts on how the process works, but that would take up way too much space here. So, I suppose I'll conclude by answering the question "would you recommend Match to someone else?" First off, my experience this time around wasn't totally unfruitful: after all, it did speed up my realization that I really just wanted to try things out with Candace again; but more importantly, it should be noted that I initially found Candace (or rather, she found me!) on Match back in 2007, so if it could happen for me, I'm sure it could happen for someone else...
