I'm sure everyone feels this way regardless of what sort of schedule they keep, but I just never feel like I've got enough time to do everything I want to be doing. Sure, I waste a fair amount of time when I go on a YouTube binge or play video games for too long, but for the most part, I really feel like there's just too much to do. That was the nice thing about school...it was easy to prioritize things in your life over others, but without those sort of guidelines and assignments, it becomes very easy to lose control of your free time.
Here are some things that I don't consider to be total wastes of time that I end up spending a lot of my free time on:
- hanging out w/Candace
- rehearsing w/the band
- teaching
- blogging
- riding my bike for exercise
- surfing Wikipedia and YouTube for educational articles/videos
- playing video games (at least, this is ok in moderation)
- keeping up to date with new music releases on iTunes (usually while cubing)
- sleeping/eating/chores
And here are some things I wish I were doing more of but never seem to have enough time for:
- writing more music for the band
- making DJ mixes
- reading
- working on my Dutch (esp. for my trip to Europe in September)
- cleaning up my personal space
- practicing piano/guitar
- logging in my teaching hours/finding more work
- fixing computer problems
- keeping up with friends I rarely see
I'm sure there are more things I could add to either list, but the point still stands: despite having ALL this free time with my sparse working hours (especially this Summer), I still can't seem to find time for everything I want to do. Right now I need to prioritize anything to do with the band and anything work-related, potentially sacrificing some internet/Xbox time.
Maybe I should start keeping track of how exactly I do spend my time with some sort of daily log...
