Plushgun @ Vinyl

The other day I found out that one of my favorite new bands I've discovered this year, Plushgun, was going to be playing a show opening up for another band that has received some hype, Nightmare of You, so Jeremy and I both went to check out the show. Now, even though we had missed the first of four acts entirely and came in during the second's set, there was almost NO ONE there, which was kinda disappointing. That said, the lack of people was a little less jarring than you might assume, as Vinyl isn't particularly large to begin with, and the second act was just a guy singing coffee-house style on acoustic guitar (which is indeed weird for this genre).

But then Plushgun went on, but although people got out of their seats and started dancing, there still weren't many people there, which was kinda a shame, as the band kicked ass (seriously, it was one of my favorite sets I've seen this year for sure). Unfortunately, the "headliner" Nightmare of You was very disappointing: they were both boring to watch and actually seemed bored themselves, and their live performance sounded very little like their much higher-quality studio album. In fact, Jeremy and I were bored enough to leave mid-set, which is something I think neither of us do lightly.

Oh well. At least Plushgun was awesome! Go see them if you get a chance!
